Your First Trade

The order ticket, explained field by field.

Pick a market from the selector at the top left, then use the ticket on the right.

Buy / Long or Sell / Short

A long profits when the price rises; a short profits when it falls. A perpetual has no expiry, so you can hold either for as long as your margin supports it. See Perpetuals.

Market or Limit

  • Market orders fill immediately against the book, up to the max slippage you allow (0.1%–3%). Any part that cannot fill inside that cap rests as a marketable limit order, which you can cancel from Open Orders.
  • Limit orders rest in the book at your price until they fill or you cancel them.

Size

Enter the size in the asset (e.g. BTC) or in USD. The quick buttons (25%–Max) size the order against your available margin. The ticket shows the order value, the margin it will use and the fee before you confirm.

Time in force

GTC (good until cancelled) is the default. The 1m / 1h / 1d options set an expiry after which an unfilled order is removed.

After it fills

The Positions tab shows every open position with its size, value, entry price, mark price, estimated liquidation price and accrued funding. Fills appear the moment they match. To close, place the opposite order — or use Reduce only so the order can only shrink the position, never flip it.

On the testnet the account is funded with play money. Nothing you do there puts real funds at risk.
