There are three ways to deposit and one way to withdraw, and all of them run through the same escrow vault.

The vault is the whole custody story. It holds USDC one-for-one against every USDλ in existence, it releases USDC only against proven withdrawals, and it has no key that can move funds any other way. See The Bridge.
